A Book Recommendation | Fourth Turning

Over on Matt’s Rattlesnake Bite of the Day, we shared a book recommendation :The Fourth Turning. (This link takes you to the Thrift Books listing).

The book talks about how history moves in cycles, much like seasons. Periods of growth, stability, hardship, and rebuilding. Whether you agree with every part of it or not, it is hard not to feel that we are living through a changing season right now.

You can see it in the economy, in food prices, and in the growing number of families wanting to know where their food comes from.

Around here, we think preparedness is not panic but a wisdom.

Farm/Ranch life teaches that quickly. There is a season to plant, a season to harvest, and a season to prepare for what comes next. You cannot ignore the seasons and expect things to work out well.

That is part of why we believe so strongly in raising food and helping families fill their freezers with food they trust. Not out of fear, but out of stewardship and responsibility.

This verse came to mind while reading:

“To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV
