Granny Hobbies
There’s been a lot of talk lately online about people picking up“granny hobbies.”
Knitting. Baking. Canning.
Things that take time.
In a world where you can tap a button and have cooked food show up at your door in 30 minutes, "granny hobby-ing" is kind of the opposite of how most things work now.
But people are doing it anyway.
Not because it’s faster.
Not because it’s easier.
Because people want to be a little more connected to something.
We’ve felt that shift here too.
The past couple of years, we’ve leaned into more of those slower skills. Rarely eating out. More intentional planning ahead. Paying attention to where our food actually comes from.
And this year, our youngest has really taken off with baking.
Just this week she made homemade soft pretzels, and I’m not just saying this, they were really good.
It takes more time.
More intention.
But the end result? You can taste the difference.
That’s the same reason we do what we do with our beef and chicken.
It’s not the fastest way.
It’s not the cheapest way.
